At Elements, our commitment to serving the community truly sets us apart. Central Indiana isn’t just our home; it’s home to many of our members and partners. We take pride in actively staying engaged and making a positive impact through our annual Purpose Day.
For over eight years, our credit union has focused on our three Pillars of Giving: Healthy Lifestyles, Homelessness and Housing, and Youth Development, allowing us to give back in unique and meaningful ways.
On Monday, October 14, our staff – both in-office and remote – teamed up to support six non-profit partners through various volunteer projects that align with our Pillars of Giving:
- Jameson Camp: Since 1928, Jameson Camp has been partnering with the Indianapolis community to provide a safe and welcoming space for young people. Volunteers dedicated themselves to cleaning up the grounds. Some volunteers trimmed trees and picked up trash along the highway, while others tidied up inside the camp building.
- Firefly Children’s Alliance: Tens of thousands of families are served every year at Firefly. Volunteers at this location shopped for clothes, shoes, hygiene products, winter coats, and other essentials to assemble care baskets for children in need.
- Pretty Passionate Hands: Pretty Passionate Hands supports teen mothers and fathers through mentoring, financial awareness, and other resources. Elements volunteers stepped in to help set up their new community house by cleaning the exterior and landscaping, ensuring it was ready and welcoming for young parents.
- Growing Places Indy: Growing Places Indy grows produce to nourish the community. This group spent the morning getting their hands dirty harvesting a variety of vegetables to be distributed throughout the city.
- Little Red Door: Fighting cancer is a tough battle. At Little Red Door, their goal is to lessen the physical and emotional burdens of cancer patients. Volunteers here created care baskets with cards and handmade blankets for cancer patients across Central Indiana.
- Home Repairs for Good: Home Repairs for Good provides free home repairs for aging, low-income homeowners. This volunteer group rolled up their sleeves to repaint the exterior of a house for an elderly homeowner, helping to stabilize homes and enhance neighborhoods.
I think it’s great that Elements recognizes the contributions that individual employees can make to the community.
After a morning of volunteering, Elements employees gathered for a special presentation at the Mavris Arts & Event Center, where we reflected on our day of giving back. We heard from our President and CEO, John Huesing, along with updates from some of our non-profit partners, including United Way and the Center for Leadership Development.
In classic Elements fashion, we closed the evening with a 50/50 raffle benefiting a local family. Purpose Day 2024 was a huge success, thanks to the hard work of our Purpose Day committee and every participating staff member.
